Terms & Conditions

All prices are shown in Japanese yen (JPY) and include consumption tax unless otherwise stated. Full payment is required at the time of booking, using one of the payment methods available in JTB BÓKUN’s secure checkout (displayed on the booking screen).

Cancellation conditions and refund eligibility are set for each Tour and displayed on each Tour’s booking page (JTB BÓKUN). Please be sure to check the cancellation policy of your Tour before booking. Cancellations made after the deadline set out in the applicable policy, and no-shows, may not be eligible for a refund in accordance with that policy.

Refunds are issued to the payment method used at the time of booking. Depending on your payment method and provider, it may take several business days for a refund to appear. Cancellations can be made via the link in your booking confirmation email or by contacting us by email.

We may cancel or modify a Tour due to weather, safety concerns, natural disasters, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. In such cases, we will notify you as early as possible and, at your choice, offer an alternative date or a full refund of the Tour price. Our liability for a cancellation on our side is limited to the amount of the Tour price; we are not responsible for costs incurred separately by Guests, such as transportation or accommodation.

• Please arrive at the designated meeting point on time. If you arrive after the Tour has departed, your booking may be treated as a no-show.

• Minimum age, height or physical requirements, and any other participation conditions are set for each Tour and displayed on each Tour’s booking page (JTB BÓKUN). Please check them before booking.

• Notwithstanding the above, tasting of sake or any other alcoholic beverages is limited to participants aged 20 or over, in accordance with Japanese law. You may be asked to show photo identification.

• Some Tours involve physical activity (cycling, walking on uneven ground, etc.) and visits to working studios and kiln sites. If you have any health conditions, allergies, or accessibility needs, please let us know in advance so that we can advise whether a Tour is suitable for you.

• Please follow your guide’s instructions at all times, especially inside artisans’ studios and around kilns and equipment.

Outdoor and hands-on activities involve inherent risks. We operate our Tours with due care and reasonable safety measures; by participating, Guests acknowledge and accept the risks ordinarily associated with the described activities. To the maximum extent permitted by Japanese law, our liability for any claim arising out of a Tour is limited to the amount of the price of that Tour; provided, however, that this limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as damages caused by our willful misconduct or gross negligence. We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings. We recommend that guests from overseas take out travel insurance covering their participation in the activities.

If a Guest behaves in a way that endangers safety, damages property, or significantly disrupts the experience of other guests, we may refuse participation or terminate the Tour without a refund. Guests are responsible for any damage they cause to studios, artworks, equipment, or rental items (such as bicycles).

We may take photos and videos during Tours for promotional use on this site and our social media. If you prefer not to appear in them, please let your guide know at the start of the Tour — we will respect your wishes.

All content on this site, including text, photographs, logos, and design, is owned by or licensed to Mashiko Labo and may not be reproduced without permission.

We are not liable for any failure to perform our obligations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, epidemics, government actions, or transportation disruptions.

These Terms and all bookings are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Utsunomiya District Court in the first instance. These Terms are prepared and published in English for the convenience of our international guests.
